Suggestions:
If a car is left out of the garage, lock it
Leave nothing of value in the car, especially if it is viewable through a wiindow (so far, no windows have been broken for entry)
Keep your garage and doors locked
If you see an unknown car drive slowly through your street, note the time and date, a description of the car and a license plate, if possible. Keep that record in the event a robbery or entry of some kind occurs in the neighborhood.
"My first thought was to set a trap and implement vigilante action, but that probably isn't in order anymore," Dennis said.
