A simple potluck always works, or bring in the clowns and firetrucks! Crazy auctions of donated items take more work but are always a hit. Give the kids high-dollar play money for bidding. They'll get a kick out of bidding $10,000 for a bag of Skittles! Races, games, ice cream socials -- all the old standbys promise a good time. How about some music or dancing?
