WOODCREST ISLAND HOME TO 3 DEER
Posted on Jul 4th, 2012

A small herd of deer recently found a new home at the entrance island to Woodcrest. The three deer sculptures are part of a renovation of the island. Suburban Landscaping added several new limestone boulders to the area and removed some old plantings from the island. The old plants were relocated to a new bed in the turf area south of the island, near Waterfall Lake.

New plants include several Blue Globe spruce at both ends of the island, red scarlet carpet roses, Ivory Halo Dogwood shrubs, Berri-magic Holly and Elija Blue Fescue grass. Green liriope also borders the end caps of the island.

The mix of evergreens (holly, blue spruce) and grasses will provide winter interest, as will the red branches of the dogwood. The scarlet carpet roses will add summer color and tie in with existing red carpet roses used throughout many of the islands and common areas of Lakepoint.

MeriRose Shenk, Woodcrest resident, added low-voltage lighting to highlight the deer at night.

Thanks, Woodcrest, for adding to Lakepoint's beauty!
