COYOTES SPOTTED IN LAKEPOINT ... create threat to small pets
Posted on Mar 7th, 2013
Steve Thomas, Cross Creek, spotted two coyotes casually hanging around a gazebo in his back yard. Fortunately, his small terrior wasn't dinner for his wild -- and hungry -- visitors.
Not all pet owners are so lucky. Steve's wife has a friend who lost two Pomeranians to a coyote here in Wichita. The dogs were in a fenced yard, but that wasn't enough to stop the coyote from jumping in.
"The way to tell a coyote from a dog, is that a coyote will run a short distance and then stop to look back at you." Steve said. "They rotate their head almost 180 degrees." Watch for them. Don't leave your dog or cats out, unattended, for long periods of time.
