BETTER COMMUNICATION REQUIRED BY HOA LAW
Posted on Mar 2nd, 2011
As you know by now, a new 13-page homeowners' association (HOA) law, passed by the Kansas Legislature, became effective on January 1.
An essential part of the law is for better notification of meetings, agendas and minutes. It also requires more specific document retention. This website is designed to help both areas.
- Post board meetings. You can do this yourself on the website. Refer to your bylaws or covenants for when to give notice.
- Send your agenda -- in almost any form -- to the webmaster. It will be posted and linked to your meeting. Again, check timing with your bylaws.
- Post your meeting's minutes on the web. Just send it to the webmaster.
- Bylaws, covenants, articles of incorporation are some documents that HOAs are required to retain. Make it easy for your residents to find thm by having the webmaster post them on the website.
The Lakepoint Master HOA board is suggesting that individual neighborhoods have their covenants and bylaws professionally reviewed and amended. (See story above.)
