NEIGHBORHOODS NEED TO AMEND BYLAWS, COVENANTS
Posted on Mar 3rd, 2011
Each neighborhood HOA board should:
- Compare the new HOA law (posted on this website) to its covenants and bylaws.
- Have an attorney review the documents and draft suggested changes.
- Put the proposed changes up for vote by the neighborhood. A total of 3/4 residents is required to pass the changes.
- Have the attorney file the amended documents.
The Lakepoint Master Board is currently having the law firm, Triplett, Woolf & Garretson, check the Lakepoint bylaws. Woodland Estates is also having the firm review its own covenants and bylaws. This firm was chosen because of its experience in writing these kinds of documents for new housing developments in the area.
Each neighborhood is free to work with any attorney, however, since neighborhood covenants are similiar, there may be some benefit to working with the same attorney.
