PLEASE DO not FEED GEESE -- OR DUCKS!

The ducks are beautiful. The geese are beautiful. And the skunks are well, skunks. It’s unfortunate that we can’t feed the ducks without attracting the others. The Master Board spends a considerable amount of money – which comes from the HOA dues you pay -- cleaning up after geese and trying to control their numbers. Please help us avoid the expense and the mess. Please don’t feed the geese or the ducks. And even if you like skunks … please don’t feed them either!

I have lived here since 1991 and the geese and ducks have increased every year. They are a nuisance and I believe a health hazard. I use to go for walks in the neighborhood all the time. No more. There is hardly a place where there isn't goose poop. What can be done? I think it may be causing our property values to go down.

The board is aware of the ongoing goose problem in Lakepoint and has tried various methods to chase them away or control them. We talked with Kansas Wildlife and followed their advice. Unfortunately, there is no single fix. We have tried barriers, deterrents and scare tactics, all within the Wildlife guidelines. Geese are pairing up now. You can help by reporting nests to us immediately!
