The bright orange construction fence along the footbridge over Sunset Lake should soon be replaced by some shiny new grates. The fence was installed as a temporary blockade to keep pedestrians safe.

 

The existing grates along the sidewalk/bridge are the original grates and, while they have been repaired and painted throughout the years, they finally reached the end of their lifespan.

 

A company is in the process of fabricating new, galvanized grates as replacements. By using galvanized material, the grates should stand up to the elements for a longer period.

 

The project is expected to cost $5,700.
