WELLS AT TURTLE POND, HONEYSUCKLE LAKE WILL DRASTICALLY CUT WATER BILL
Posted on Dec 19th, 2012
The entrances at Central and 13th are the only systems that will use city water. Originally, the Central entrance was on well water from the Honeysuckle Lake well, but deposits from the water left an unsightly white coating on the red brick wall. The wall was cleaned and the system returned to city water to prevent the problem. In addition, the board added a Sterling water filtration system on each well to reduce the minerals in the water.
Suburban Landscaping is in the process of marking locations to trench in new pipes for the irrigation zones that feed from the Turtle Pond well. The systems will all be ready for spring.
Weather experts are predicting another hot, dry summer, keeping Wichita in a serious drought condition. Water rates are rising and so is water usage. For these reasons, the board elected to spend money to drill the wells now, in order to save substantial money on city water later.
