VOLUNTEERS ESSENTIAL TO LAKEPOINT
Posted on Oct 14th, 2013

Based on an approximate $50 per hour general labor rate, Gerald saved Lakepoint about $900. Money saved by volunteers is money saved for YOU – all of the residents of Lakepoint, because it reduces the need for HOA fee increases.

Steven Rothwell, who offered the use of his gas-powered auger, and Kurt Cornejo, helped dig the holes for the relocated bench. Don Ziegler supplied a portable generator that Gerald rolled around in a little wagon as he worked on the benches.

Steve Thomas and Gerald both took on the tedious task of scrubbing white water deposits from the brick wall on Central and on neighborhood monuments that had deposits.
Gerald replaced some polycarbonate lenses in some of the decorative light fixtures. The brick-cleaning and lens-replacing took five to six hours of volunteer easily. He recently installed a barrier fence on the footbridge to cordo n off damaged grates.

These guys deserve a lot of thanks. And, one of the best ways to say “thank you” is to volunteer YOUR time. You may ask, “Why should I volunteer? I pay HOA fees.” The answer: the cost of keeping Lakepoint beautiful will always go up. When costs go up, so do HOA fees. Volunteering helps keep costs down, develops pride in a neighborhood and camaraderie among residents. There’s nothing to lose … except a bit of your time.
